Nutmeg Log Cookies    Laurie & Steve
1 cup butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon brandy or brandy extract
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
3 cups flour
1 & 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Frosting:
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon brandy or brandy extract
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
Cream butter with vanilla and brandy or brandy extract. Gradually beat in
sugar, then blend in egg. Mix together flour and nutmeg. Add to butter
mixture and mix well.
Divide into 14 portions. On sugared board, shape each piece into a roll
approximately 12- inches long and 1/2-inch in diameter. Cut into 2-inch
lengths. Bake on greased cookie sheets in a 350 degree oven for 12 minutes.
When cool, combine all frosting ingredients and mix well. Frost cookies.
Festive sprinkles may be added while frosting is still "wet", if desired.
