Strawberry Pie Mom & Dad

4 cups strawberries
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons strawberry Jell-O
Few drops red food coloring
1 baked pie shell

Crush 1 cup strawberries and cook with water for about 2 minutes. Combine sugar and cornstarch, stir into strawberry juice. Cook until thick. Add Jell-O and food coloring. Place 1 1/2 cups quartered strawberries in baked pie shell, pour half the sauce over the berries. Repeat the layers. Chill. Top with whipped cream, or whipped topping if desired.
