Min's Famous Stuffed Peppers Mom & Dad

3 or 4 green bell peppers (depending on their size)
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup white rice
1 small onion, chopped and fried in margarine
2 eggs, beaten
Salt and pepper
2 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
1 large can tomatoes (1 pound 12 ounces)
Salt and pepper
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice

Cook rice until tender. Set aside.
Cut green peppers in half, remove stem and seeds. Trim membrane. Rinse well, pat dry.
In a large bowl, combine beef, cooked rice, onion, eggs, salt and pepper.
Fill halved green peppers with meat mix.
Mix sauce ingredients in large bowl.
Cover bottom of a large baking dish (13 x 9 x 2-inch) with approximately 2 cups of the sauce.
Arrange stuffed peppers over sauce in baking dish.
Pour remaining sauce over stuffed peppers.
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 1 & 1/2 hours.
