Old-Fashioned Herb and Onion Bread StuffingTom & Kari

For the bread cubes, we always used seasoned cubes, such as Pepperidge Farm. Just gives it that much more flavor!

1 & 1/2 cups chopped onion
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon dried sage leaves, crushed
1/4 cup snipped parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, crushed
8 cups dry bread cubes
1 cup plus, chicken broth
salt and pepper, to taste
In a small saucepan cook onion in butter or margarine until tender but not brown; remove from heat.
Stir in sage, parsley, thyme, marjoram, salt and pepper.

Place dry bread cubes in a bowl. Add onion mixture.
Drizzle enough broth to moisten, tossing lightly.
Use to stuff one 8-10 pound turkey, but we just bake it in a casserole dish in a 350-degree oven for about 45 minutes or so, until heated through.
