Chookies Mary & John

This recipe calls for Cheerios, however you may substitute your favorite crisp cereal.

1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon boiling water
Dash of salt
2 cups Cheerios, slightly crushed
2 cups quick cook oatmeal
1/2 cup coconut, shredded
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butterscotch chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients and drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. The bottoms burn easily so check after 7 minutes.
