Best Ever Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies Mary & John
Anita's and Warren's comment on these is that they are great without nuts.
They just add an additional 4 ounces of chocolate chips.
1 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 & 1/2 cups oatmeal
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 4-ounce Hershey bar, grated (optional)
1 1/2 cups nuts, chopped (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Grind oatmeal in blender or
food processor until powdery. Mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder
and baking soda. Add slowly to butter mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate
chips, grated chocolate bar and nuts. Drop golf-ball size pieces of dough,
2- inches apart, on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Do not over-
bake. Cookies do not look done when removed from oven. Allow to sit on
cookie sheet 2-3 minutes before removing to a wire rack.
